NEW! Arizona and Utah 2009 portfolio is up!
About me I dedicate my photography to nature and landscapes, mostly in South America, but I also like to travel abroad to other continents whenever it's possible. Photography is a hobby (a very expensive one I might add!) and even a therapy I'd say. Some time ago I began thinking more and more about marketing and selling some of my work to pay for my trips and gear so I decided to build this web site. I always enjoyed sharing my travel experiences with people in such a way to motivate them to go to those locations and experience the same because I don't believe photographs alone can suffice that. I've always been a perfectionist in everything I do in my life, so I'm always seeking for the best composition, the best image quality, the best light, the best locations and so on. I have a very strict selection of photographs in my portfolio and it usually takes me several months to go through all the pictures taken at a specific location and reduce them to a smaller set of "portfolio-worthy" photographs. After making my first prints I immediately loved to see my photographs framed and on the wall. Since then I am 100% dedicated to the creation of fine art photographs. I'm mostly influenced by artists like Alain Briot, Edward Weston and Ansel Adams, but I'm always open to new perspectives, techniques and approaches from my fellow photographer friends worldwide. I'm a Nikonian and I shoot 99% digital. I'm also a wide angle freak so I'll be always looking for the best and wider lens available! I enjoy shooting wild landscapes where nature is mostly untouched by men and that means I have to go for multi-day hikes, camping, climbing, rappelling, rafting, all that through hot, cold, wet and dry! It's as fun as it gets! Anyway, I hope you enjoy my photographs as much as I enjoy shooting them! Thank you for visiting! Luis Balbinot |
